My 29...

Here's a little something to follow my progress while I build a 1929 Chevy Coupe.  This will be a nice step by step guide for any rookie getting into hotrodding.  My father might be a master fabricator, but he kept myself and my brother away from autobody while we were growing up so we could focus on  better career.  Even though we stayed away from cars as a job, we always loved it as a hobby yet never had the chance to do much.  Now that I live a few states away from the family, I seemed to fallen into an opportunity.  This project will be restoring the rust bucket below into a full blown Chevy hotrod all built by hand in my garage with a budget of ZERO.  Since space is an issue, I'll be getting rid of the rust, covering the sheetmetal in a rust preventer, and then chopping the body up to store while I start working on the frame.  My father has a lot of the parts I need up north, but we'll just have to wait until we can get them down here.  until then, i have alot of work to do......

This 1st section is filled with pictures of the car just like I got it...  take a look at all the work that has to be done!!!

The 2nd section will start documenting the progress i'm making.  the SLOW progress....  Its tough to get things done with limited tools and knowledge.  Good thing I have my father on the other end of the phone!.  HELP!

Shiny cowl!

After I sanded the rust off of the body parts shown above, I had to cover it in a rust preventer that daddio bought for me while he was down visiting.  Good thing he got it cuz its 80 bucks a quart!!  Shhhh, dont tell momma!

Some time has passed..  My lady and I have our 1st daughter now so she is where most of my time is happily spent.  The hotrod will take a back burner while I collecta  few more parts and try to get a few more tools *cough welder cough* but until then, I'll keep chipping away as best I can.  The dream is alive so there will always be some sort of progress..

Me working away while its getting dark.  Im sure the neighbors are loving me... Here's a small video..

sanding the roof

We have to fast forward a few months.  I can not find a few of the pics that I wanted to post. Hopefully the turn up somewhere...I finished sanding the roof area and coated it to protect it.  I then had the whole body ready to be stored.  Time to chop!  My father was here for 24 hours before he went on a cruise with my momma.  Of course he had time to get me a few items I needed and mapped out some chop lines for me to follow.  We only had a small amount of time so I wanted to make sure we spent it hanging out with family instead of working on the car.  Deep down we all know what I really wanted to do, but family 1st!!

heres the roof laying on top of the cowl both waiting for proper storage.

I think Im gonna try and get rid of my mustang2 front end for a solid dropped I-beam.  Im gonna keep this car fenderless.  I think it will look more bad ass.  Ive been looking at a lot of cars over the years and thats the look im gonna go with for now.  Im trying to work a deal right now for an 87 Corvette rear end.  Hope the guy helps me out.  I would love to have that kind of equipment moving me around...

Had my father here for the weekend and its time to make some room for another project while I collect parts for the 29.  Now its a pile of parts!
